Day 20: Vocab lesson

Janielle Carter- Continued
She signed the auto theft form at her apt. that morning. She continued to lie to the police while at the apt. and then at the police station. She wasn't trained by McNeary to lie for him. In the early morning McNeary called and asked who had been to the house. She was at the police station for about 12 hours. At the police station she told the police a bunch of lies. She lied about not seeing McNeary for two weeks, not letting anyone else drive the mustang, she knew Campbell from a friend at work, last time she saw Campbell. She was also asked about statements at the police station, which she said she didn't recall making those statements. She told police her relationship with McNeary had fallen apart, by that she meant it wasn't what it use to be. She also told police she was different from McNeary, and lived a different lifestyle then he did. She continued to lie to police about the mustang. She didn't remember having a conversation with Kenny that morning. She can't remember her demeanor during the interviews. She was then put in an interview room with McNeary. She didn't know if McNeary had been interviewed at that point, and she didn't know their conversation was recorded. McNeary never told her what to say. She was interviewed after that meeting with McNeary. She then started to come clean. She said that she received several calls that night, came clean about the mustang, and that McNeary had called her early that morning. Kenny helped McNeary and Carter locate the mustang. She thought Tyree called saying 9-11 got popped, was about 4am. While talking to police she said she didn't talk to Sean, she was pointing out that her caller ID says DeShawn Campbell when he calls. So in fact she never spoke to a "Sean" but spoke to DeShawn. That day was the last time she talked to police until a phone interview on 12/06/01, and then again while in custody on 8/18/03. She didn't do the interview to get herself out of jail. She met with her attorney, Lane, and Sgt. Edwards. She told police in that interview that Campbell had called to tell her to report the mustang stolen, that McNeary described the car accidents and that he slept in the creek. She has a "friend" named Lacy Drake that she hasn't talked to since the shooting incident. She wasn't aware that Drakes husband had posted her bail, she thought McNeary did. LANE: In the interview room with McNeary, he told her to tell the truth. McNeary didn't tell her "what" to say, just to tell the truth because they were trying to pin the murder on him. She referred to Campbell as Shawn during that conversation because they were talking fast and trying to be quiet. She met with Lane about a week ago to talk about the case, not her testimony. She had met him a few times before that too. By saying she lived a different lifestyle then McNeary she was saying: she graduated from high school, worked early in her life so she was stable, she didn't party, and waited till she was 20 to have kids. JUROR: How was your breakup with McNeary? They broke up multiple times, he has two other children with two other girls so that caused at least two breakups. She felt he didn't grew up as much as she wanted him to. Would you get back together? No, but he is a role model for my son of what not to do in life. She has learned her lessons. Did you ever move out of state before/after? Never moved out of state again. She isn't Indiana material. Was the 3-way call unusual? Not unusual for McNeary to do. She knew he did that while in jail too. LANE: Here is a vocab lesson for everyone:::::
woo woo woo? Don't know that saying.
dooley? double piped truck or a pipe for meth
smash off? to peel off
post? sit somewhere, to hang out
rallo? a firearm, a gun
you feel me? you understand what I am saying

JUROR: Whose idea was it to get the mustang? It was McNeary's. Who drove? Kenny drove in a red trans-am. Where did Kenny live? He stayed at his girlfriends who lived right below Janielle. Where did you go after you got the keys? They went home. Kenny and McNeary went downstairs to Kenny's girlfriend, then they left. Did McNeary have his own set of keys? Yes he did. JUROR: Where did you go first? To find the keys in the field. What was the name of the school you passed? I don't know but will try to find out. How wet were his clothes? There was no dry spots, but not wet enough to leave water spots where he was walking. Did he shower? No he didn't.

That's it for this week. Next week is only Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.
